[ARCHIVED] Census 2020 Nonresponse Follow-up

update-leave-Census

At the end of July, 68 percent of Oskaloosa’s households have self-responded to the 2020 Census.  This means 32 percent of our households, nearly one-third, remain to be counted.   The US Census Bureau has sent reminder postcards to households that have not yet responded.

In August, census takers will begin "nonresponse follow-up", visiting and interviewing households that have not yet responded so that they may also be counted in the 2020 Census.  The Census Bureau is working to complete data collection as quickly and safely as possible, while ensuring a complete and accurate count as it strives to comply with the law and statutory deadlines.  Census takers will carry an official ID badge and will follow local public health guidelines when they visit.  Learn more at Census Takers In Your Neighborhood.

Please remember that census takers are Oskaloosa-area residents, hired and trained locally to complete this work.  We encourage all residents to be courteous to the census takers and provide the requested information.  It will only take a few minutes and can be done quickly and safely from your doorstep.

Residents can also still respond online, by phone or by mail.  Oskaloosa is aiming for a complete and accurate count of its population, and we appreciate your cooperation.
