Responsibilities

The Fire Department provides emergency response services to residents within the city limits of Oskaloosa, Beacon, University Park and Lake Keomah. We also cover all or part of Madison, Adams, Scott, Garfield, Lincoln, Spring Creek, Jefferson and Harrison Townships, within Mahaska County. These services include:

  • Fire prevention
  • Fire response
  • Hazardous materials
  • Inspections
  • Rescue operations

The department also assists the building official with fire prevention inspections. Fire safety education programs are provided to schools, preschools, daycare centers, residential property owners and all types of businesses including hotels, motels, manufacturing firms, retirement homes and nursing homes.
