The Public Works Department is responsible for promoting safe and environmentally sensitive development within the community, as well as planning and overseeing the construction of streets, sidewalks, and other public utilities. In addition to future planning, this department is also responsible for identifying and correcting safety and functional deficiencies in existing roadways and infrastructure systems. In order to accomplish these tasks, the Public Works Department has been organized into the following divisions:

Water, Stormwater and Wastewater Service
Oskaloosa's water, stormwater and wastewater utilities are operated by the Oskaloosa Municipal Water Department. Oskaloosa Water is located at 1208 South 7th Street and can be contacted at (641) 673-8476. Contact or visit this office to sign up for service or for service-related questions. EPA Brownfields Grant
With respect to future development, the City of Oskaloosa has taken a large step forward by completing a total of $1,000,000 in EPA Brownfields Assessment Grant since 2014. The City is currently working on $300,000 in grant funding awarded in 2023. Follow the link above to learn more about what these grants mean for our community.
