Reason for Running for Public Office

Comfort attended his first City Council meeting as an eighth grader in March of 2007. That one meeting sparked a keen interest in local politics, and Comfort continued to attend City Council and School Board meetings all through his high school years. He has long wanted to leave his community a better place than when he found it and that has always been his driving factor in wanting to be involved in Oskaloosa. At the age of 18, Comfort was elected to the Oskaloosa School Board over a longtime incumbent, serving for three years and later re-elected to the Board in 2019. In 2021, after some encouragement and seeing a number of key retirements from the City Council, Comfort decided to run for City Council to continue to better his community and help it grow.
