Deer Management Program
Due
to the fact there was public interest expressed to the city regarding
adoption of a deer management program because of damage to property
and vehicle accidents involving deer, the Public Safety Committee
of City Council met on September 29, 2009 to discuss the need
to allow deer hunting in designated areas of the city. The committee
recommendation to the City Council was to adopt a deer management
program.
At
the December 21, 2009 city council meeting the Oskaloosa City
Council adopted an ordinance establishing the deer management
program, to be administered by the Police Department.
