Oskaloosa Police Department

Chief's Message

Welcome to the Oskaloosa Police Department's web site. Thank you for taking a few moments to "look us up". Before you proceed, let me provide a brief overview of our commitment to you, the citizens of Oskaloosa.

The Oskaloosa Police Department now has 17 full-time sworn officers, 2 full-time civilian employees and one part-time employee. Our department also has many volunteers, all working as a team to accommodate the many needs of our community. Each and everyone is an integral part of our police operation.

Our most fundamental obligations have always been, and will continue to be, to serve and protect the citizens of Oskaloosa, as well as those just visiting or passing through.

Oskaloosa is a relatively low-crime city, and with our proactive enforcement of the law, we intend to maintain this high quality of life.

We at the Oskaloosa Police Department feel that our role goes beyond arresting criminals. We strive to find avenues to better assist individuals in distress, educate our children on safety, and provide information to prevent crime in our community. We do this by building partnerships with citizens in our community.

We will continue to preserve your quality of life with efforts to formulate positive communication between you, our citizens, and our department. I assure you that we will continue to provide the most professional, comprehensive and proactive policing for our community.

We value your comments and input, and welcome your questions and concerns. Please feel free to contact myself, or any member of my staff, if we can be of assistance to you by calling (641) 672-2559 .

Sincerely,

John R. "Jake" McGee
