Tom Jimenez
Year Elected to Office and Number of Terms Served:
Jimenez started his second four-year-term as a City Council member in January 2008. This is his second stint representing citizens of Oskaloosa having served on the Oskaloosa City Council in the early 1990s.

Education and Background:

Born in Newton, Iowa, Jimenez grew up in the Los Angeles, California area. He moved to Oskaloosa in 1979.

Place of Employment:
Jimenez is retired.  He owned and operated Oskaloosa Quality Rental from 1979 to 2015, serving Oskaloosa, as well as the regional areas of Mt. Pleasant, Des Moines, Altoona, and the state of Missouri, Oskaloosa Quality Rental supplies equipment to general contractors and the general public for construction and home improvement projects.

Community Activities and Organizations Currently Involved In:
Jimenez sits on the Finance Committee and is a supporter of many endeavors within Oskaloosa.

Reason for Running for Public Office:
Progress within a community and making sure things get done is not something accomplished by just one person according to Jimenez, which is why he decided to run for public office. Through his position on the Council, he is trying to help the community stay vital and active and enjoys being a part of ‘getting things done.’

Decision or Action of Which Most Proud:
The long-term, solid street repair and replacement plan which was adopted by the city council is an important action and one of the best recent decisions the council has made according to Jimenez. He also believes acquiring properties for the purpose of aesthetic development is an important action for improving corridor entrances to Oskaloosa. 

Additional Involvement and Special Areas of Interest:
Jimenez believes youth sports is important and supports school sports programs and enjoys a personal round of golf when time and work permits.

Family Members:
Jimenez has three adult children living in Oskaloosa and the immediate area.
