Homebuyer Education Classes

The City of Oskaloosa offers a group homebuyer education class on a semi-annual basis, normally held in the early spring and late fall. First-time homebuyers are encouraged to attend these group sessions to learn the basics of purchasing a home. Topics covered in this class are Preparing for Homeownership, Shopping for a Home, Obtaining a Mortgage, Closing, and Life as a Homeowner. One-on-one classes are also offered throughout the year as necessary. Upon successful completion of this course, the potential homebuyer holds certification that fulfills the requirements for the First-time Homebuyer Program and the Section 8 Homeownership Program.
